Community Involvement

I have the privilege in serving in various roles in the community. In the past, I have served on various boards, chaired community fundraising events, and facilitated multiple conferences and retreats.  I'm fortunate with my practice to have the flexibility to make the time to serve and volunteer in the community in these different roles.

Committee member: Jacksonville Catholic Businessmen

The Jacksonville Catholic Businessmen was started over 20 years ago here in Jacksonville.  This group of Catholic businessmen attend a quarterly mass with the Bishop of our Catholic Diocese.  Afterwards we enjoy breakfast together and then hear from Bishop Estevez about relevant events locally, nationally and internationally.  Our final quarterly meeting of the year is a mass and dinner in the evening.  A small committee of men throughout the years have organized these events and since 2011 I’ve had the privilege of serving in this capacity.

Board Chairman: Young Catholic Professionals Jacksonville:

YCP was founded in 2010 to help young professionals connect with one another and maintain their Catholic faith while pursuing demanding careers.  YCP currently has official chapters in over 18 cities across the country and Jacksonville’s chapter was founded in 2016.

The mission of YCP is to encourage young adult professionals to Work in Witness for Christ.

YCP brings young adults together for speaker events, panel discussions, and networking to foster Catholic identity, to encourage community, and to inspire a call to action.

Board President: St. Joseph's Catholic School Advisory Board:

My children have attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School over the past 9 years and I’ve had the privilege to serve on our School Advisory Board since 2016.

Member: Diocesan Pastoral Council (Diocese of St. Augustine)

The Diocesan Pastoral Council meets quarterly, and its purpose is to provide advice and counsel to the Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine in his pastoral care of the Catholic Church and its parishes locally.  Bishop Felipe Estevez appointed me to the DPC in 2016.

Co-Founder: Families Following Christ:

Families Following Christ (FFC) was founded in 2005 as a ministry to families, men, women and children.  There are several meetings monthly as well as social & spiritual events throughout the year.  My wife, Allison and I served in leadership from the beginning until 2017 and are still active participants in the local chapter and provide mentorship both locally and to other chapters outside of Jacksonville.

Steering Committee: Florida Eucharistic Congress Diocese of St. Augustine:

The Florida Eucharistic Congress hosted by the Diocese of St. Augustine is an annual 2-day event held in Jacksonville, FL attended by 10,000+ people. Since 2012 I’ve had the privilege to serve on the Steering Committee responsible for organizing the event.  My primary role has been the Finance Chair and most recently I assisted in organizing a social gathering for Young Adults at the end of the Congress.

Co-founder: Jacksonville chapter of Business Ethics Forum

My friend and local businessmen, Dick Erickson, had a desire to instill more ethics in the workplace and discuss the topic of how faith impacts all aspects of business.  We started a local chapter in Jacksonville based on the work of Bill Bowman.  The Business Ethics Forum was a group of local businessmen and women who met for monthly lunch meetings from 2012 – 2014 to discuss real life case studies, management tools, consulting services.
